Finding A Qualified Disk Jockey
|
6. Will you play our music selections and our
guests' requests if asked?
This is not a stupid question! Untrained D.J.'s and D.J. wannabe's tend to play what they want - thinking they are cool! A professional D.J. will play from your selected list and put the music together with a good flow and mixture of songs. Also, a qualified D.J. will play any request that fits your "style" of music selection and will usually get your approval before playing a request that is questionable.
7. Do you have back-up equipment and or a back-up
D.J. in case of an emergency?
Although nobody that I know in this industry brings a complete back-up system to every job, a professional company will typically have some back-up gear on hand and a plan of action with standby D.J.'s in case of emergency.
8. What is your typical wedding reception attire?
Most D.J.'s will wear a tux or a nice suit unless otherwise specified by the Bride and Groom.
9. Will you help coordinate events and make
any requested announcements?
If you do not have a wedding coordinator, your D.J. should be happy to provide these services. A professional D.J. will typically introduce: the Bride and Groom and wedding party into the reception, the toast, the prayer, the cake cutting, the first dances, the bouquet and garter toss, dollar dance, and any other announcements that you request. Also, your D.J. should work with your photographer, videographer, caterer, and any other professionals you may have hired to ensure a smooth flow of events.
10. Do you sub-contract any of your D.J. work?
Some companies get overbooked in peak periods and sub-contract jobs to other companies. Make sure you are getting who and what you are paying for!
